Knotty Alder

  • Origin: Coastal Western North America
  • Hardness: moderately soft
  • Grade: premium rustic
  • Description: Raw knotty alder pieces can include solid knots, crater knots, open knots, soft knots, pin knots, sapwood, worm holes, worm tracking, bird pecks and other natural characteristics as defined by industry standards. Knots and defects should be expected at random with door and drawer fronts. Quantity and frequency of defects and knots will vary from many to few. Alder tends to lighten in color when exposed to natural light.
