Characteristics: fine, uniform grain, nearly white to slightly reddish brown
Description: Maple accepts penetrating stains in varying degrees. Different wood pieces and often the same piece can have areas of inconsistent penetration. This is a natural characteristic that should be considered desirable when ordering stained maple. Mineral streaks are common maple characteristics that are not entirely eliminated when selecting wood for cabinetry. Maple will deepen in color when exposed to natural light.
