Picking the Perfect Countertop

Anyone who has started a home renovation project knows how much thought and time goes into picking out products for your space. While a kitchen or bathroom update can be one of the quickest ways to add value to your home, it’s important to understand a little bit about the products you’re choosing, and if they’ll hold up in the conditions of that specific room. For example, there are cabinet and countertop options that won’t hold up to the high humidity levels that a master bathroom would produce.

To help ensure you’re making the right decision when it comes to your countertop, we’ve put together a short guide on each of the different products that we offer!

Corian

Corian is an engineered stone similar to quartz. It’s made up of a combination of minerals such as granite, plastic binding resins, and quartz. The manufacturing process for corian is straightforward: the materials are pooled together and heated, set in a mold and then cooled. The final product is a beautiful, practical choice that is both tough and long-lasting. Schroll offers over 125 color variations of this stone, making it a great choice for your kitchen or bathroom remodel.

Granite

Granite is one of the hardest materials on Earth. Used as a countertop material with proper sealing, it is resistant to scratches, acids, stains, warping, and heat. It is long-lasting, durable, and available in a wide variety of colors, textures, and crystal patterns.

Ice Stone

Made from 100% recycled glass that is mixed with cement, IceStone is a highly durable, aesthetically beautiful and sustainable concrete surface. IceStone’s versatility of color and finish offers exceptional design options and unparalleled durability. If you’re looking for a sustainable option for your home, IceStone is a great option and can be used for countertops, backsplash, or a bathroom vanity.

Maple Butcherblock

Solid Northern Hard Maple butcherblock tops are as beautiful as they are functional. While you enjoy the soft grain and subtle color variations of your top you also can use it as a true cutting surface. Schroll’s tops, which can be made up to 3 inches thick, are hand assembled of jointed edge-grain strips in our custom shop in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Butcherblock tops are both strong and soft and, when they are properly installed and cared for, butcherblock

Silestone

Silestone is a high-quality engineered quartz surfacing product that can be used for countertops, flooring, vanity tops, tub surrounds, tabletops, walls, and even fireplace surrounds. Silestone offers a unique mix of strength and elegance in all surfacing applications. It is composed of 93% natural quartz and looks and feels like granite or limestone but is much more durable than other natural stones. Silestone countertops are a great way to bring color and texture to your space. There is minimal maintenance, and they have a high resistance to scratches and stains.

Soapstone

Soapstone is a naturally quarried stone that is dense and non-porous. Harder than marble, slate, limestone, or granite, soapstone is impenetrable and will not stain. It has been widely used in chemistry labs and classrooms as it is impervious to heat. In fact, it is the only countertop material on which cooking vessels can safely be set directly from the oven. Soapstone countertops offer a deep, rich color palette and a very smooth, soft, almost soapy touch because they are composed primarily of quartz and mineral talc. Its soft but dense nature allows for an aging process that makes a soapstone countertop become even more beautiful over time.

Solid Wood Tops

The beautiful wood tops that Schroll offers are an ideal surface for a centerpiece island. Wood tops may be clear and refined or lovingly pre-distressed by hand and develop more patina with age, providing a dramatic focal point for your new kitchen. They are available in a variety of wood species, so consult with your designer to discuss the advantages of each choice to find one that truly fits in with your space.

Veneer Wood Tops

Our cherry, knotty alder, maple, hickory, and oak veneered tops are made on-site and are finished with the same durable high-performance topcoat as our doors. Stained to match your Schroll cabinetry, our lustrous finishes enhance the natural beauty and warmth of the wood. Because of the manufacturing process, our thick-veneered countertops are more resistant to heat and humidity than solid wood countertops, and they are easy to install.
